Individuated Purpose
An individuated purpose is the conscious building of a path in the world as opposed to the world defining one’s role or purpose. This purpose is rooted in one’s mission or vision in life. The vision is without attachment to any outcome; but, in fact, powers a person’s urge or desire to live their purpose to the fullest, regardless of obstacles, others’ control or opinions. An individuated purpose stands on, and is, without dependency of anything or anyone. When one is fully engaged in their main goal(s), the obstacles can actually become opportunities. Generally, only the positive is recognized but the negative can and should be recognized as well.
An individuated purpose can be developed over time: It is not necessarily “a calling” or one’s passion, but is acquired over time, and thus becoming a passion or part of one’s calling. Perhaps you have not found what you think is your purpose in this world, or what you think should be your purpose. To re-emphasize, a purpose can be discovered and developed over time and at some point integrated in one’s life, whereby even the habits are either the indirect or direct result of a purpose. The individuated purpose seems synonymous to what one might call a motive? Well, maybe, but it is more of a motivation than a motive.
Change comes at a price, and with it are sacrifices; some seen and some unseen. One has to be willing to undergo the unknown hardships on the path that one believes in. Most of us want “perfect results” and all that we think we should have and wish for that our desired change should result in. This is just that, wishful thinking. When one is on the path of their purpose all areas of one’s life starts integrating; people, places, things. In other words, integration means a level of higher acceptance. There is no deflection when the path is clear.
Easing into change does require patience and work; however the ultimate work towards conscious change also requires self-knowledge and understanding of oneself. This is necessary and ultimately trusting in the change one is embarking on is important towards harnessing a level of self-understanding. Patience comes out of self-understanding which necessitates self-awareness and trust. (I am referring to change that is positive whether out of good or bad circumstances. The change one seeks is usually towards a healthy balance in life: Meaning body, mind and spirit.
