Recap: Change Reflections

Change Recognition (click underlined link to pages) - “What is Change?” Web log - Dec 5, 2022

Note Book Exercises

Reflection 1 -

Let’s begin with the first step:

  • Try to recall a time when a change/changes happened without your awareness. Ask yourself was this change conscious or unconscious? (How and when did you know a change occurred?)

  • Reflect on at least one occurrence or time a change happened (we’ll keep it simple for now, so think of a personal /individual change with yourself).

  • Think it through and write your thoughts down, copiously list your thoughts about the change; and, consider the before instance and after.

You can repeat this exercise many times. If you want to be a bit ambitious, you can keep a notebook with your thoughts.  There is no right or wrong thought(s), therefore there are no mistakes in this exercise.

Reflection 2 - Catalyst - “The Catalyst” - Web log - Dec. 16, 2022

Now that you have completed the first exercise, the Change Recognition, revise your noted changes, and think what was the catalyst for your change.

If you are having trouble naming the catalyst, revise the pros and cons and think of the time, place and situation that created this change. You may come up with many reasons, but a catalyst is the main cause. This may take some time, so I suggest that you sit back and relax and go through the sequence of reasons and focus on the main source of the change you noted.  In a relaxed, reflective mind, you will discover the source (catalyst) for your change.

Reflection 3 -Catalyst Chain - “Catalyst Chain” - Dec. 16, 2022

  • As you outline your reasons (conscious and /or unconscious) and categorize your thoughts, keep in mind that in the last exercise I stated there is main cause. Ultimately, the main cause is considered the Catalyst.

  • Spend some time again reviewing your notes and your chain of catalysts, think about all the reasons: The Catalyst you wrote down as the main cause, is it the same?
The underlying and strongest reason is usually a main source of a Catalyst which in turn precipitates the Change.

  • Ask yourself, what was the cause or ultimate root for this change? Be as objective as you can.
